A man in his 20s has sadly been found dead in a Plymouth student accommodation block.
Emergency services were called to Astor House student accommodation on Notte Street at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, 21 May, following concerns raised by the ambulance service about the welfare of a resident.
The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He is understood to have been a student living in the building. His next of kin have been informed.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed this morning that the death is being treated as unexplained, but is not believed to be suspicious. A file is now being prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"The man in his 20s was located deceased within a property in Notte Street.
"His next of kin have been informed.
"The death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

Students living in the building contacted Plymouth Plus after witnessing a coroner’s van outside their property late on 21 May. One student told us the van arrived around 10.30pm, and a stretcher was seen exiting the building about an hour later. Police were also seen at the scene.
Several residents said they have received no communication from the accommodation provider, and expressed their shock and sadness at the lack of acknowledgement or support. One concerned student said:
“I had expected the accommodation teams to put out a statement to address this tragedy or potentially hold some type of mourning for a student. However, this has not occurred".
Another added:
“The student population has been growing more nervous with the increase in criminal activity and stabbings. If you had any news on this it would be appreciated.”
