# Wanted man seriously injured after falling from roof during police chase in Plymouth

Emergency services descended on Second Avenue in Camels Head this afternoon (Wednesday 6 August) following a serious incident.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that they were called to Second Avenue at around 11am following reports of a male suspect in the area. When officers arrived, the man climbed onto the roof of a property before falling a short time later.

The man has suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Derriford Hospital.

A [large number of emergency service vehicles attended the incident](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/person-taken-to-hospital-after-serious-incident-in-camels-head-as-police-and-ambulances-flood-second-avenue/), including police units, an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle. 

It is understood that the Devon Air Ambulance was also deployed from its Exeter base but was stood down before reaching the location.

Police officers remain on Second Avenue this afternoon and have placed cordons at both the front and rear of the property, while they carry out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Residents in the area described a dramatic response from emergency services. One neighbour who witnessed the incident told Plymouth Plus:

> “I saw the ambulances arrive very quickly. A person was being chased by the police and fell from the roof and landed in the street. They put them on a stretcher and rushed him away to hospital".

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: 

> "Police were called to Second Avenue in Plymouth around 11am today, 6 August, following sightings of a male suspect.

> "On police attendance, the man climbed onto the roof of a property and fell from the building a short time later.

> "He sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

> "Second Avenue is currently closed while officers carry out enquiries into the circumstances of the incident."
