Woman falls from moving taxi in Plymouth as police and ambulance rush to scene

A woman was taken to hospital with a head injury after falling from a moving taxi at Saltash Passage in Plymouth on Sunday night.

Emergency services descended on the waterfront area near the Ferry House Inn shortly after 8.30 pm, with armed police units, multiple police vehicles, and an ambulance spotted at the scene.

Plymouth Plus understands the incident involved a taxi. A woman was reportedly injured after attempting to exit the vehicle when it moved off.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"We were called by the ambulance service shortly after 8.30pm on Sunday 15 June following a report of a collision involving a vehicle and one of the vehicle’s occupants on Saltash Passage, Wolseley Road, Plymouth. 
"It was reported that when the passenger went to exit, the vehicle pulled away before the she had successfully got out, causing her to fall. 
"A woman was taken to hospital with a head injury.
"The injury is not considered serious at this time."

Police remained at the scene for several hours, waiting for specialist units to arrive.

Armed response officers were also deployed but left the area shortly before 11 pm.
