Woman in her 20s dies after incident on Plymouth coast

A woman in her 20s has died after an incident on the Plymouth coast.

Police were called by HM Coastguard at around 6.40pm last night, Monday, 9 March, after concern was raised for the welfare of a woman.

Following enquiries, the woman was located in woodland at Cawsand Bay.

The RNLI, HM Coastguard and Newquay based HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924 were sent to the scene.

A paramedic from the helicopter was winched down to land and met by South Western Ambulance Service paramedics.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Plymouth Plus waited for confirmation that her next of kin had been informed before publishing this update.

Devon and Cornwall Police are not treating the death as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.
