Young Plymouth man dies in motorbike crash following ‘police contact’

A 23-year-old man has sadly died following a serious motorbike crash in Plympton.

The collision happened at around 1.40pm yesterday afternoon Saturday, 13 December on Boringdon Hill.

Major emergency service resources were sent to the scene, including the Devon Air Ambulance, but despite best efforts, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A black Nissan car and a blue Suzuki motorbike were involved. Police have confirmed that the occupants of the Nissan were not injured in the collision.

A mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct [IOPC] has been made by Devon and Cornwall Police, due to prior communication they had with the man before his death.

The IOPC is now conducting an independent investigation into the incident.

Boringdon Hill was closed overnight while officers from the Roads Policing Unit and the Forensic Collision Investigation Team carried out a detailed examination of the scene.

Police thanked the public for their patience while the road was closed.
