Burglars smashed their way into a Plymouth Morrisons store during a dawn raid that left the shop ransacked and staff facing a major clean up job.
Police were called after two offenders smashed a window to get into Morrisons Daily on North Prospect Road at around 4.50am this morning, December 11.
Once inside they carried out a frantic search before making off with a large haul of cigarettes vapes and alcohol.
The value of the stolen items is still being assessed but officers have described the quantity taken as 'significant'.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:
"Police are investigating a burglary at a Plymouth store this morning, December 11.
"Two male offenders smashed a window to gain entry to Morrisons Daily in North Prospect Road around 4.50am.
"They carried out an untidy search before stealing a significant quantity of cigarettes, vapes and alcohol.
"Officers are appealing for information and for any witnesses to contact them."
