Two RNLI lifeboats were scrambled to an emergency in Plymouth Sound on Friday night, prompting a swift response from crews based at the Millbay lifeboat station.
Both the all-weather lifeboat and the inshore lifeboat launched from Plymouth RNLI shortly after 10pm and made their way towards the Breakwater area.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing blue lights and crews coordinating a response near the mouth of the Sound.
