Fire crews quickly established that an electrical switchboard on the ground floor of the building was on fire. Firefighters used breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two safety jets and thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.

The building was filled with smoke as a result and firefighters used fans to help clear the smoke from the building which has been empty for years.
