Man arrested after cannabis farm discovered in Plymouth

A man has been arrested after a cannabis farm was discovered in Plymouth this morning.

Police have been conducting a joint operation with Home Office Immigration Enforcement across the city today.

It is understood that during a visit to a property on Albert Road, officers detected a strong smell of cannabis and were led to a commercial premises.

A man was arrested on suspicion of drug offences and was taken into custody at Charles Cross police station.

Police remain at the location this evening as evidence is gathered and cannabis plants are removed from the building.

In an update issued this morning, Friday, 27 March, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed:

"Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team attended a garage in Healy Place, Plymouth, yesterday (26 March) as part of a pre-planned operation.
"As part of these enquiries a cannabis cultivation was located and six men were arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and taken into custody.
"Several further property searches were conducted in the city and a large quantity of cash and suspected Class A drugs were found.
"Officers would like to thank the public for their patience during the operation."
