HM Coastguard and RNLI volunteers were called out during the early hours of New Year’s Day to a 'concern for welfare' incident.

The response, which marked their first emergency call out of 2026, was triggered at around 2.40am on Thursday, January 1.

It came after Devon and Cornwall Police requested assistance with a 'concern for welfare' incident on Plymouth Hoe.

A Coastguard Rescue Team and the RNLI lifeboat were tasked to the scene, but the incident was quickly resolved after police safely located the person inland.
