Forensic investigation launched after flat fire in Plymouth

A forensic fire investigation has been launched after a fire broke out at a property in Plymouth last night.

The fire occurred at flats on Sheridan Road and left a living room badly damaged and the home filled with smoke.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze broke out in a two storey flat at around 8pm on Sheridan Road.

Specialist fire investigators and police are working together to establish the cause of the blaze, which was confined to the living room of the property.

At the height of the incident, three fire engines were reported to be tackling the flames.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said:

"There was 10% fire damage and 100% smoke damage to the living room of this flat, crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire."
