Fire at Plymouth block of flats in Stonehouse brought under control by firefighters

A fire that broke out at a block of flats in Plymouth on Thursday evening has now been extinguished, with fire crews leaving the scene and residents allowed to return to their homes.

The blaze began shortly after 7.30pm in the kitchen of a flat on Valletort Place. Crews from Crownhill, Greenbank, and Plymstock fire stations were sent to the scene by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, and thermal imaging to extinguish the flames and clear the building of smoke. The kitchen was reported to be 80% damaged by fire and 100% damaged by smoke.

No injuries were reported, and residents have since been allowed to return to their homes. Firefighters have now left the scene.
