A man was taken to hospital with facial injuries after he and another man were allegedly followed and assaulted in the Plymouth City Centre.
The incident happened on Western Approach at around 2am on Wednesday (2 July) after the two victims had been drinking at Union Rooms on Union Street.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the pair had spoken to two men who were unknown to them while inside the venue.
After leaving Union Rooms, the victims were allegedly followed by the men onto Western Approach.
Police said a verbal altercation then took place before both men were assaulted.
One of the victims suffered facial injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to hospital.

Officers have now released CCTV images of two men they want to identify as part of their investigation.
