A new speed camera has been installed today after its predecessor was chopped down by Plymouth ‘blade runners’ overnight.

Plymouth City Council has arranged for the replacement speed camera to be installed just in time for Christmas.

The replacement speed camera has been erected on a lamppost on Victoria Road and is already being calibrated for activation.

Vandals chopped down the old camera overnight at the beginning of November.

70% of Plymothians told Plymouuth Plus at the time that they felt Victoria Road did not need a speed camera.

The attachment for the new camera has been ‘reinforced’, making it harder for it to be maliciously removed from the lamppost.
