Plymouth Hoe is set to be taken over tomorrow evening as thousands of people head to the waterfront for Bonfire Night 2025.
The city’s annual event returns to Plymouth Hoe on Wednesday 5 November, promising a packed night of rides, food, music and a huge bonfire lighting up the night sky.
The free event runs from 4pm to 10pm, with the bonfire due to be lit at 7pm and fireworks launching from the Royal Citadel at 7.30pm. For the best views, head towards Smeaton’s Tower and get there early to secure a good spot.

From 4pm, the fairground opens with rides for all ages, while food and drink stalls start serving from 5pm, offering everything from hot chocolate to fish and chips and sweet treats.
It’s set to be a chilly night, so wrap up warm and agree on a meeting point in case mobile signals get patchy in the crowds.
A number of road closures will be in place around the Hoe for safety and traffic management. Here’s the full list:
- Hoe Road – from the Mound at the Citadel to Pier Street, 6pm to 9pm
- Madeira Road – from the junction of Elphinstone to Hoe Road, 6pm to 9pm
- Citadel Road – from Hoe Approach to Lockyer Street, 6pm to 9pm
- Armada Way loop (Crowne Plaza) – 6pm to 9pm
- Windsor Place – entire length, 6pm to 9pm
- Osbourne Place – to the junction of the Esplanade, 7am to 9pm
- Notte Street – from The Crescent to Hoe Approach, 7.30pm to 8.30pm
- The Crescent – from Millbay Road to Notte Street, 7.30pm to 8.30pm
- Princess Street – from Lockyer Street to Princess Ope (including access from Armada Way), 7.30pm to 8.30pm

Accessibility has been carefully planned for the event, with a viewing area on top of the Belvedere available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible toilets can be found at both ends of the Hoe.
Those needing a quieter space can head to the Sensory Garden by the Osbourne Place entrance or the lower grassy areas of the Hoe. Stewards in yellow high-vis jackets will be stationed across the site, ready to offer help and directions.
