The Plymouth Urban Tree Festival is back for its third year, and it's bigger than ever.
Taking place from 10 to 18 May 2025, the festival will feature more than 40 events that celebrate the trees and green spaces that make Plymouth special.
The festival is organised by Ali White, co-ordinator of Plymouth Tree People and well known as the campaigner behind STRAW (Save the Trees of Armada Way).
Ali has been at the forefront of legal action against Plymouth City Council following the controversial felling of over 100 trees in the city centre.
This year’s festival highlights the community's ongoing passion for trees and their vital role in urban life.
Events include tree climbing, yoga in the park, art and craft workshops, live music, immersive film screenings, bat detecting, and guided walks led by local experts. Many activities are free or low-cost to make them as accessible as possible.
Festival Highlights
• Tree’s A Crowd: launch party with folk music, crafts and cider
• Dawn Chorus Walk: 4.30am birdwatching in Central Park
• Beaver Tour and Nature Films at Poole Farm
• Art exhibitions at The Almanac Café
All of the tree-mendous events can be found and booked via Eventbrite below:
The festival is a collaboration between Plymouth Tree People and a wide range of local partners, including Real Ideas, Plymouth Marjon University, Plymouth Arts Cinema, Tulgey Woods CIC, Rebel Botanists, and many more.
This year the festival is supported by the Plymouth and South Devon Community Forest.
Ali White, Plymouth Urban Tree Festival organiser said:
"Lots of the events are free, and others we have been able to make more affordable than they might normally be.
"We know Janners love trees and we want as many people as possible to get involved, come to the events and join us in recognising and shouting about how great trees are, together with all of the benefits urban trees bring us."
