The Tamar Bridge has been closed following a serious police incident, sparking disruption for drivers.

The incident was first reported around 4.12pm today (Saturday 19 July) and has led to the full closure of the westbound lanes, which connect Plymouth to Saltash. Tamar Crossings has confirmed the closure is due to a “police led incident”.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and consider alternative routes. Eastbound traffic remains unaffected.

The Tamar Bridge is one of the region’s most important transport links, with thousands of vehicles using it daily to cross between Devon and Cornwall. The sudden closure has led to significant delays and travel disruption across Plymouth and surrounding areas.
