TikTok sensation Tom Birchy, who has amassed more than 29 million likes on the platform, shared with Plymouth Plus why he’s fallen in love with Plymouth ahead of his highly anticipated Knock Out Labs Tour, which is coming to the city this August.
Tom Birchy, famous for his huge TikTok presence, recently visited Plymouth to explore the city ahead of his Knock Out Labs Tour happening on August 1st and quickly found himself captivated by its beauty. He said:
“The sun was shining down at the Barbican, it looked so beautiful. I've been to Plymouth a couple of times throughout my life and I don't understand what the bad press is about. I just don't get it."
He went on to praise the city's unique atmosphere and friendly residents, adding:
“People here are very friendly, always coming up to say hello. I love the Barbican, of course, and I love how you have so many sailboats and working fishermen."
Birchy also highlighted Plymouth’s vibrant community, blending university students and local residents who share a love for underground music and drum and bass:
"Plymouth has got the student scene and it's also got a lot of people who have lived here all their lives who are into underground music and drum and bass and things like that."
The Knock Out Labs Tour is set to take place at Strobe Nightclub on Friday, 1 August 2025, from 10 pm to 4 am with the lineup including headline act Devilman, supported by Sox, Callum Bishop, Posk, and includes a special guest appearance from TikTok star Ali from Kingston University.
Birchy, who will also perform his own live DJ set at the event, highlighted Devilman, renowned for his iconic track 'Drum and Bass Father', as the perfect headliner for Plymouth:
"I know that everyone loves that song. Everyone would have heard it growing up and I think that will do well."
With such positivity, Birchy sees Plymouth not only as a one-time stop but also has future plans for more big events in the city:
"I know that in future we can use Plymouth as a base and do some really great shows here. I know there are other amazing venues in Plymouth that I would love to work with, Strobe were the first to reach out to me and big shout out to the management there."
