Here's why the police helicopter was up over Plymouth last night

Residents across Plymouth may have heard or seen the police helicopter circling low late last night.

The Exeter based helicopter was seen flying over the Whitleigh area at around 10.30pm on Sunday, 12 April.

Police have confirmed that they were called earlier in the evening at 9.55pm following a report of a man in his 30s missing from home in Plymouth.

Officers carried out an extensive area search, with support from the National Police Air Service helicopter, as they worked to locate him.

Thankfully, the man was located in Plymouth shortly after midnight and was left in the care of health professionals at Derriford Hospital.
