A man was rescued by the RNLI tonight after falling overboard from a 25ft leisure vessel that ran aground in Cawsands Bay, triggering an emergency response in Plymouth Sound.
The vessel became stranded shortly after 8.40pm and was later refloated. RNLI lifeboat crews towed the boat slowly across the Sound towards Yachthaven Marina.
At 10.52pm, the tow was ongoing but progressing slowly. Eyewitnesses described a calm scene as RNLI crews worked carefully to bring the yacht in safely.
By 11.11pm, Plymouth Plus confirmed that the tow continued across Plymouth Sound, with the yacht moving steadily toward shore under the supervision of the RNLI.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard told Plymouth Plus:
"HM Coastguard received a 999 call at 20:41 this evening (20 June) reporting a man overboard from a 25ft leisure vessel that ran aground off Cawsands Bay, Plymouth.
"Tamar Coastguard Rescue Team and two Plymouth RNLI lifeboats were sent.
"The man was recovered to the vessel unharmed and the vessel was able to refloat.
"The vessel is currently being towed to Yachthaven by the lifeboat."
