Armed Ministry of Defence Police officers have descended on a car wash in Plymouth this evening (18 August).
The primary role of the Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) in Plymouth is armed site security of the city’s nuclear dockyard.

At least 5 MDP officers were seen at "Quality Hand Car Wash" in St Budeaux, where they appeared to be engaging with the occupants of a car
No arrests were made and officers checked over the driving licence of the driver and details of the vehicle.

Whilst the MDP is a civilian police force, it is the only police force in the country which does not have its own press office.
Therefore, the exact details surrounding their presence at the car wash will likely always remain a mystery.
