A rescue mission was launched after a vessel ran aground in the River Tamar this afternoon (18 August).
The vessel ran aground near the Weston Mill Lake area of Devonport Dockyard at around 2.14pm.

An emergency response was quickly launched, with numerous Ministry of Defence Police boats on scene within minutes.
HM Coastguard also sent the RNLI all-weather lifeboat, which deployed its Y-class lifeboat after arriving in the vicinity of the emergency.
One person was stranded on the vessel and, thankfully, was safely taken to shore.
