A Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was seen flying over Plymouth this afternoon (29 August).
The aircraft was scrambled to the vessel Carnival Legend, which was transiting the English Channel from the Isle of Man to Dover when the emergency occurred.
HM Coastguard airlifted a person from on board the cruise ship and took them to Newquay Airport, where they were handed over to the ambulance service.
