Firefighters rushed to a student accommodation block after a fire broke out this afternoon (28 August).
The fire involved a cooking pan and tea towel material inside the kitchen on the seventh floor of the 13-storey student accommodation block.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to Saltwater Place on Notte Street at 1.03pm following reports of the fire.
A site manager had already extinguished the fire using a fire blanket prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Firefighters implemented high-rise procedures and carried out a thorough check of the property.
The seventh floor was moderately smoke logged, while the kitchen sustained around 15% fire damage and extensive smoke damage.
Devon and Cornwall Police also attended to assist with road closures around the building, which have since been lifted.
A fire investigation found that the blaze had started accidentally and the property was handed back to the site manager once crews had completed their checks.
