Major anti-nuclear protest in Plymouth over Devonport Dockyard nuclear fears and defence review

Protesters marched through Plymouth today in a demonstration over nuclear fears at Devonport Dockyard.

Organised by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), the protest called for a rethink of the Strategic Defence Review and demanded investment in peace, not nuclear weapons.

The event began at 12 noon in Guildhall Square, Armada Way, where crowds gathered for speeches and a rally.

At 1pm, an open-top bus took protesters on a tour of Plymouth’s nuclear sites and the city’s connections to the defence industry.

The protest continued at 2.15pm with a gathering at the gates of the Trident nuclear dockyard at Camel’s Head in Weston Mill. latest updates, pictures, videos, and reactions as events unfold across the city.
