Man taken to hospital after major police response on Anstis Street in Plymouth

A man was taken to hospital following a major police incident on Anstis Street in Plymouth on Friday afternoon (13 June).

Emergency services rushed to the scene in the Stonehouse area shortly after 2.40pm, after reports of an injured man and a possible assault.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that the man may have been involved in an altercation and also experienced a medical episode.

Armed police and specialist units attended, and the area was sealed off under a full cordon to ensure public safety. Several roads were blocked as officers managed the scene, prompting local disruption and concern among residents.

The man received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital. His condition has not yet been confirmed. Police later lifted the cordon and confirmed the situation was under control.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"Police were called at 2.40pm today, Friday 13 June, to reports of an injured man on Anstis Street, Plymouth.
"Initial reports suggested the man may have been assaulted.
"Emergency services attended.
"The injured man has been taken to hospital. It is believed he had been involved in an altercation and experienced a medical episode.
"A police cordon was established at the scene but this has since been lifted."
