A man has sadly died after being hit by a train in Plymouth this evening (13 September).
The man was pronounced deceased after climbing over a fence alongside the railway line in St Budeaux.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police told Plymouth Plus that the matter is not being treated as suspicious and that they will prepare a file for HM Coroner.
Devon and Cornwall Police also attended the scene to assist with road closures.
Passengers on board the train were taken off at St Budeaux Ferry Road railway station and transferred into waiting taxis.
A major emergency response was launched, with firefighters, paramedics and police all responding.
The South Western Ambulance Service also deployed its Hazardous Area Response Team and the Devon Air Ambulance critical care car to the scene.
