A 13-year-old boy has suffered life-changing injuries after being hit by a car in Plymouth, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to St Pancras Avenue just before 2pm on Monday 31 August following a collision involving a red Volvo V40 and the child.
The boy sustained life-changing injuries after the collision at the Tintagel Crescent junction and was taken to hospital.
A man in his 40s from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, driving while unfit through drugs and other offences.
The man has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
Officers from the Roads Policing Team spent several hours at the scene carrying out a serious collision investigation.
The lower section of St Pancras Avenue remained closed throughout the afternoon and into the evening before reopening at around 7.30pm.
Devon and Cornwall Police have thanked members of the public for their patience while officers investigated the scene.
Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward.
