A man in his 40s was taken to hospital after being hit on the head with a glass bottle on Friday (31 July).
Police and paramedics were called to Basket Ope on the Plymouth Barbican at around 1.20am following reports of a serious assault.
The victim, who is from the local area, was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment. Police have confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening.
A 54-year-old local man has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has been released on conditional bail while police investigations continue.
A scene guard was put in place while officers examined the area, with cordons remaining on Basket Ope for several hours before being lifted later that afternoon.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, or who may have information that could assist the investigation, to come forward.
