A man has been named and charged with rape after a British Transport Police operation in Plymouth.
Billy Ormiston, 36, is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today, Monday (8 June) charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
British Transport Police officers arrested Ormiston in the Plymouth City Centre on the afternoon of Friday (5 June).
Officers from the British Transport Police Operational Support Unit (OSU) travelled to Plymouth as part of the operation.
Warrants were executed at two residential addresses in Plymouth on the evening of Friday (5 June).
One woman was arrested at an address on Wolsleley Road on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Another warrant was executed at an address on Hospital Road in Greenbank, which Plymouth Plus understands was carried out to secure evidence.
The charges are connected to an alleged rape at Nuneaton railway station in Warwickshire on Friday (13 March).
British Transport Police launched a manhunt to locate Ormiston on 2 April, and intelligence led detectives to believe he was staying in Plymouth.
