A person has sadly died at a spiritualist church in Plymouth earlier today (2 August).

Two double-crewed land ambulances alongside an operations officer were sent to the scene by the South Western Ambulance Service.

A spiritualist church is a place of worship for followers of Spiritualism, a religion centred on the belief that the human soul continues after death and that communication with spirits is possible, often through a medium.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious and that a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.
