A man with serious injuries was rescued by the RNLI after he fell approximately 40ft on Plymouth Hoe.
The man fell from a ledge on Plymouth Hoe and was found by police on the rocks below just before 7am this morning.
HM Coastguard sent Coastguard Rescue Teams from both Plymouth and Yealm to the scene on Madeira Road.
Coastguard Rope Rescue Technicians set up equipment and prepared to go over the ledge in aid of the casualty.
Meanwhile, the Plymouth RNLI inshore lifeboat (ILB) and an MOD Police patrol boat made their way to the shoreline.
Given the difficult location of the casualty, he was transferred onto the ILB before being taken to Plymouth Lifeboat Station.
Two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, a Devon Air Ambulance critical care car and a first responder were sent to the scene by the South Western Ambulance Service.
The man was taken to Derriford Hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries.
