A woman has sadly died after becoming unwell while swimming at Tinside Lido this afternoon (2 September).
The woman became unwell while in the water and lifeguards immediately entered the pool to help her.
Police, paramedics, firefighters and HM Coastguard all rushed to the scene following the serious medical emergency.
The South Western Ambulance Service sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, a rapid response vehicle and a doctor to the scene.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Her death is not believed to be suspicious and Devon and Cornwall Police will now prepare a file for HM Coroner.
