Aftermath of ‘deliberate’ van fire in Plymouth revealed

This is the aftermath of a fire which police have now launched an arson investigation into after it was believed to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to Cumberland Road in the Mount Wise area of Devonport following reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames.

Residents in the area reported seeing smoke billowing into the sky and the glow of flames as the fire tore through the van.

​Two appliances attended, and crews used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, alongside hydraulic cutting equipment to get into the van to extinguish the fire.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed.

Police have now launched an investigation and are urging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward.
